I am considering dropping a flight medic packet in the near future. What is the selection process like? Any info really.

All Flight medics will be flight paramedics. Fort Sam Houston does 9 months of the paramedic/critical care. It is a pcs move. Following that, you will go to Fort Rucker for the 6 week flight medic course. You will be required to have an initial Class 3 flight physical. Some things are waiverable as far as the physical is concerned and it can take as little as one month or months in order to get that approved. You will need to submit 4187s for the courses. Fyi there is a backlog for the paramedic/critical care program due to the transition of all flight medics to flight paramedics.

SGT (Join to see) - last fall it was about a year wait for a flight medic to go to the paramedic course. Earlier if they re-enlisted for it. My recommendation is that you start your flight physical. You will not be able to submit a packet till you have an approved flight physical and upslip. Then, go talk to your schools, they shouldshould have visibility of the slots available. You can look in ATRRS yourself but that will only show the classes available, not how many seats are left for a specific class.
