I am contimplating vacation in Switzerland. Has anyone been there? What is good and what is bad? What is the iconic Swiss meal?

Interlachen is good for a day trip. Gorgeous, but touristy. If you prefer a little more subtlety, I enjoyed Lucern very much, and Frieburg is an interesting town.

Be prepared to spend more money than you expect on food. Whatever you think you will spend, double it. It was a pretty nasty surprise.

CPT (Join to see) Switzerland is absolutely beautiful !! Captivating landscapes, and with a beautiful, friendly people. Be ready to gain a few pounds from all the great food, and don't forget to grab lots (and lots) of Swiss Chocolate !!
For the best vacation I would recommend getting out of the big cities, while staying close enough to drive in. That's not difficult as 20 minutes outside of most cities you will be in farm country. You will meet more real "Schweitzer" and have to deal with less tourists. You may even be accepted at a local "Gaststaette" if you show up for a beer (or wine) two or three nights in a row. That is you chance to make some real friends. Good Luck, and Enjoy !!
