Hopefully not. Tell everyone you were temporarily insane, pull your packet back, and stay in the real Army.

Its not for everyone (I avoided only two things in 28 years,,,,recruiter and Korea) But some folks thrive on being a recruiter.
Of course some folks choke them selfs while naked and coved in peanut butter (so Ive read) so it takes all types I guess.

Excellent advice SFC Weber! I was DA selected for recruiting less than 9 months after completing Drill Sergeant duty. Recruiting was horrible!!

Real Army...Hmmmm. We did PT, APFT bi annually. Held Station, Company, and Battalion formations. Company Commanders handed out awards, and punishment. I guess when you say "Real Army" your referring to being next to a flagpole? Someone recruited you unless you are a vietnam drafted era vet (of which you are not....I get what you mean. I have heard this my entire career. I can say that what an Army recruiter does each and everyday is vital to the strength of the branch. Just as any other MOS is vital. As a Track Vehicle Repairer you also were trained as an infantry Soldier Yes?
I can assure you that Army Recruiting is very real !!!

Speaking from a few years back as I am retired after 15 years of Army Recruiting, I would say that you stand a good chance of going to Ft Knox for the ARC. Regardless how balanced your MOS is or is not. Recruiting is a must in any branch of service and are needed. Yes, your unit could try to retain you, but USAREC is pretty powerful and besides it is normally just a 3 year tour. Unless of course you want to convert over to 79R full time as I did....good luck Warrior!!

My packet has been approved by USAREC and my branch unofficially released me. All they are waiting on is to process my paperwork to slot me in school. Hopefully sooner rather than later.

Normally they will cut temp orders that work @ the next school cycle. I believe the ARC school is around 2 months. Could have changed since 2008....good luck! I would say a minimum of 90 days so you and your family can react and PCS...

...one other point of interest: Back when I was doing my windshield Army recruiting time, if you VOLUNTEERED for USAREC duty! You could select what state you want to recruit at! Be careful about going back home on the block because you will have a lot of Family, friends distractions. Try to recruit in the Southeast U.S...Florida, Georgia, Bama etc,...

Balanced or not, if you meet the prereqs and submit a complete request with all required supporting docs... Pack your bags your going to school. You would have to be in a critically short MOS, to the point the SMA is tracking all 4 of you by name and duty location before that would take priority over DS, & recruiter
