The AIT is approximately 5 weeks. As for how it is as a Reclass, that will depend on the Company and the Cadre. When I reclassed to 12B, I was in the barracks with the IETs, but I was way down the hall from them. I used a separate latrine. We had to do PRT and training with them. For formations we formed out BEHIND the company. We (there was 5 of us total) also marched BEHIND the company. For DFAC chow time, we were last in the door but moved to the front of the line. We were allowed to leave the company AO with the permission of the Drill Sergeant/CQ. We just had to be back by the prescribed time given. Otherwise, we were left alone to our own devices.

SPC (Join to see) - And you will probably get there and join the company right before they graduate from Basic.

When I went to AIT for reclass, it was like college except for the technical training and meals. Some of the IET soldiers were jealous or upset at our treatment. There is no need for tripping on a rat turd.

SPC (Join to see) - It is short. In the 90s it was just enough training to make you safe enough to learn your job when you get to your unit. You will learn most of your job at your first unit.

I reclassified in '16 and it was about 16 days. I loved it and to be expected the demo was the best. Hope you have as positive experience as I did. FYI, moving up in ranks as a 12B has a lot of math and shit to remember.

Did they have you staying in the barracks with everyone else? Or put you in a hotel.
