For sure! If I go straight through I’ll definitely have to miss the first semester of college, but if I do the STO I won’t revive my full benefits until after I finish AIT.

When you weigh the benefits vs first semester in regards to STO and straight thru.....which one will benefit you the most?

I am leaning towards straight through since college can wait, & then I’ll receive better tuition assistance.

If you start in the spring you're not missing the first semester. It might be a benefit for you in that you'll start school with a different mindset than others. A lot of kids that come straight from high school to college skip classes and suffer academically. Additionally, if you only do basic you might not be in the right state of mind for AIT. All things to think about. Another thing to think about is ROTC.

When I first joined the Army Reserves, I did the STO. For me, it was a two sided coin. On one hand, I was glad I got to have that break in between and still be able to earn a paycheck, but at the same time, I do sometimes wish I would have just gotten everything done in one stretch.
