NCIS is a civilian position, CID is mostly enlisted and warrant officer with a few civilian positions, and AFOSI is officer and enlisted but attend FLETC. I’d start there and see what you want to do with your career.

Oh okay I see. What would your advice be to a person who is interested in joining CID.

Well first make sure that is what you really want to do. It is a lot of very detailed time consuming and mostly paper work. It is not like it is on TV. Don't expect to have a lot of off time. Be ready and able to come in and do what needs doing at any time day or night. Go to there website and talk to them about joining it is a long process for a reason. If that does not work out well you need your degree first if you are not already in. Go and enlist and after you complete BLC put in a packet to go CID. Now remember that they have a lot of special programs that may not be available with you get to that point. They have and will continue to get agents from other MOS's in the army.
