The GAFPB can be obtained on military installations that have a German liaison officer. Seventeen installations in the United States, including Fort Huachuca, have a German liaison service. The German liaison service was established on Fort Huachuca in 1963. I believe Rucker, Benning and Knox have a German liaison as well as JBSA.

The advice from MSgt (Join to see) is spot on with how I understand it. Best of luck to you!

This information may be out of date. When I received my German Armed Forces proficiency badge, we had Personnel in my Brigade that were trained up by the Germans. The only German liaison officer that I knew of at the time was out of Fort Polk. Hopefully, some active duty can pipe in and tell you where they have their liaison officers. To the best of my knowledge, they train American soldiers in the event and then those soldiers can officiate the event and send the sign forms to the German liaison officer who then will send the badge and the certificates. The last badge iron was in 2003. I earned the gold. In my officer basic course, I was only offered the bronze and I earned that one in 1997. With the German military being so gutted, hopefully they have Personnel able to be a liaison officers located in the US. The German military short 4K officers. Prime minister Merkel cares more about climate change than about keeping her Armed Forces sustained. For President Obama, the latest Canadian ministration and the European Union all signed the Kyoto Accords making global warming a bigger threat than their Russian Neighbors or anything else. I live in Canada and the price of my gasoline is going to $0.50 a gallon and will continue to rise to about $2 a gallon more in 2022 do carbon taxes. You figure, if this is happening to the European Union, they don't have any money for their Armed Forces but they have money to pump into other Technologies or into the pockets of the politicians to pay for their pet projects at the expense of the consumer and the economy. Don't be fooled by that sexy socialist running around New York and helping other Democrats because she is all for this kind of tax Schedule. And you wonder why the German military is broken?

Broken fighter jets, grounded helicopters and idled tanks: Germany's military is ailing
Germany's embarrassingly long laundry list of inoperable fighter jets, grounded helicopters, idled tanks and submarines sitting in dry docks is exacerbating tension between the United States and this once hawkish country.
