Hello all I recently inprocessed and am currently in the 70th BSB . I am looking for some NCO battle buddies to show me around. I do not know the train system or the bus Korea however I know it is not smart to do so alone while I know nothing of my surroundings.

Theres a few good restaurants in the ville. One of my favorites is the American breakfast across from Rendezvous. But try to go to new city I believe its two maybe three stops heading towards Uijeongbu on the train. Dino meat is located there. I was stationed up there 2012-2013 , But I'm currently in Humphreys.

Make sure you download the Google Translation app or any language app. Also download DBC Tok Tok app to call the US cheap from Korea. Also get a T-money card from 7-11....it helps when paying for bus, cab and subway fares.

Oh yeah I know what you mean. Well if you need to know about any spots where to go to that not many people know of let me know. I'm basically a Korean national since I have been here a lot lol.

I'm not an NCO and not currently on Pen, but as a Korean linguist married to a Korean woman for the last 22 years the best advice I could give you is to get yourself to Seoul and just wander. Namdaemun market, Tongdaemun shopping district, Kyongbok palace and Insa-Dong should probably keep you busy for a long weekend.

Don't be afraid to venture out alone, and if you get lost, just ask any junior high school age Korean, they all study English and would love to practice with a real American.

Also, learn some simple phrases, numbers, and avoid the temptation to eat American food. You can tell a Korean place is good the same was you can spot good restaurants in the USA; by the size of the crowd. If you have no idea what to order, just look at what others are eating and point while saying "koo-guh ju say yo" (please give me that). Korean food is wonderful, their beer is tasty and people are extremely nice when you show an interest in their culture.

Even right outside the gate at Casey you will find restaurants that cater to Americans; avoid them and go where you see the locals crowding.

I was with 702nd msb on Casey 03-05 and just outside front gate WS a sports bar called Marty's . its a good first stop to get used to the bustling culture. It may no longer be there, there was a subway sub shop on the corner and a KFC a block past the bars downrange. Always keep your battle close, I had a friend that got stabbed by turks.
