I am on my first PCS order from Fort Hood to Fort Riley. What do I need to do or what I should do in order to get my 10 days permissive TDY?

I have heard many things, that your new unit wont give it to you unless you have a higher rank. so I would like to know how to get everything approved before I get there. Also I would like to know same thing for travel days. I know I can get all the answers from post clearing office but I don't have my orders yet. I liked to be prepared before I get them. Thank you for all the input.

Have a discussion with your PerChief and get the request forma and submit it. USMC has same policies, but different forms, so I can not state the specif Army request form.
