I was told that they cant promote me because i am currently on ADOS orders. I can not find anything on AR 600-8-19 (02feb15) that says I cannot be promoted while on ADOS. Can anybody help me understand this, maybe I am missing something.

So long as there is an E-5 slot at the parent unit you can promote. Also, I had a soldier not get picked up reserve side because at the bottom of the form in his packet he did not initial his willingness to promote outside his commuting distance.

If you feel as though your not being heard on this contact the IG and have them pursue an inquiry. It's amazing how quick they move once IG gives a call.

Best of luck!

I wish I new. Everthing tends to change when we figure it out. There is a mythical list I hear of called a PPRL?

I sat in my slot as an E5 for over a year after making the E6 board. I filed an inquiry With the IG and final my orders came.

I would talk to your unit admin and request some clarification on the issue. I have been promoted while serving on ADOS orders for the ARNG years ago. Is the issue that you are on ADOS or is the issue the ADOS job you hold is only validated for your current grade? Understand ADOS positions are annually reviewed and validated for relevance and funding purposes. Simply being on ADOS should not stop a promotion but it could be an issue if the job is not validated for a Soldier at the next higher grade.
