28 years ago (when it was 91B Medical Specialist) it was a good idea to study a bit in the evenings and to pay attention and take notes in class. It was the most college-like training I took in the Army. It was also a bit more laid-back atmosphere than one encounters in other Army schools.

The most important thing is to get a handle on it all - not just pass. In many units, a medic, even a brand-new medic, can find themselves the ONLY medic at the scene of a real-world medical problem and you have to know what to do. But the school was pretty good and we had time to study.

SGT (Join to see) It was 91A when I went in 1988. Actually made honor grad. Had to take a comprehensive test covering entire course and had to score at least an 80 to pass. Since course was over and we would be graduating soon the cadre insured we had plenty time to go over all of our modules.

Yeah, that test was national registry for EMT-B. We took it. Both of our instructors were good, but one of them was outstanding.

The first time something happens and you're the only medic there, that's the payoff from studying and taking it seriously.

Unless Whiskey Land has slacked up a bit, do NOT expect ANY kind of slack for being a Reclass. Everyone is equal in Whiskey Land.....all at the dirt level.

When I went through in 2013, prior service, reclass, and branch transfers were treated very different from the rest of us. They formed up on their own, lived in separate barracks, and weren't treated like s#!+ by the cadre. Obviously, you will be held to the same academic standard as everyone else.

AIT wasn't super difficult as long as you put in the work. We usually had at least 1 written test per week and multiple hands-on evaluations throughout. You have to pass the NREMT, but just don't overthink the questions. As long as you pay attention in class and study/practice in your free time you should be fine.

Just study your A&P. It's not really that hard. The national registry test is tricky, just remember to pick the answer that most closely lines up with O2 and transport.
