I got a text from my army recruiter today. She said MEPS put my packet on a 10 day hold. She said it’s not a bad thing. True?

Has anyone else experienced this? I’m not sure what to expect. Is this a fairly normal thing? I guess it’s better than no right off the bat? I guess I’m just trying to feel out if I still have a strong shot. Or?

Did you ask your Recruiter to explain the 10 Day Hold? Other than saying it's not a bad thing?

MSG (Join to see) I haven’t either. Granted this is the first actual experience for me. But I’ve been trying to do my homework, read up on things, get a feel for the process. And I haven’t come across anything like this. So I’m just a little confused and unsure which way to lean, as far if my chances are good or not.

PFC (Join to see) - Perhaps the only thing I can think of is the timing. With Christmas and New Years coming soon.....perhaps that's the reason for the hold

MSG (Join to see) that crossed my mind, and I’m crossing my fingers that’s the case. I appreciate your input!

The recruiter would know why, therefore it is fare that you ask and are answered. Be polite, share your concern and ask what the reasoning for the delay is.

PFC (Join to see) first congrats on making a decision that will forever change your life. Second without seeing your initial enlistment documents there could be a few answers: as you said in an answer the 10 days could just be the recruiter waiting until January's mission, also there might be a waiver needed and the signing authority isn't available until that date. Most of here on RP enlisted or commissioned on waivers, I did as my mother had to sign an age waiver for me to enlist (I was 17 in my second year of college). Neither of these are bad things, as a Marine Recruiter only one of the applicants I processed for enlistment didn't have a waiver. A few had waivers that took months and a few more came back denied. My recruiter said something that would last with me until this day "the military like life is as hard as you make it, if you want it to be easy it will be." Good luck and let us know how things are going with you.

Thank you very much! I appreciate your time. I’m hoping it’s just a mixture of those too. I had already expected to have to have a waiver. (Tattoos) But I suspected from my packet I would possibly be required to have waivers from medical history. I’m trying to stay positive, and I’m ready for any obstacles that come. I’m eager to join and have a job with a purpose. Thank you again for taking the time to share. I will post any updates I receive! Thanks again!

PFC (Join to see) stay motivated and get yourself ready. Spend time with loved ones over this holiday period, exercise and prepare yourself. You will do fine; you have at least reached out to a great community here on RP and we have your back.

MSgt James Parker I’m doing my best! I’ve been doing a lot of reading up and researching. I’ve been starting to prepare physically. I appreciate your support. I hope you have a great holiday!
