Hello everyone,
I’m a little upset I have to cancel my meps appointment tomorrow due to warts on my feet not being 100% gone. My recruiter told me this may cause issues and when they are 100% gone he will submit all doctors info to meps... did I get give up my one chance at meps because I had to cancel the day before?

Nope. Cancellations happen all the time. MEPS sees these all the time, trust me. I cancelled three times, twice on the day of.
It's just a matter of your recruiter making a new appointment and making sure you are good to go. You want to be your best when you go in, MEPS and your recruiter want the same thing. The goal is two visits and done.

It happens. Don’t stress. People are processed through MEPS and shipped to boot camp on a weekly basis.

I hate plantar warts. I had mine cut out before I made the switch from the Reserves to Active Duty. Good luck with them and I hope you caught them before they reached the point where you need surgical intervention.

No. You most definitely did not give up your chance. You can come back at anytime. No one cares you cancelled the day before. However, if you come in with something that isn’t healed they will send you away and tell you to come back when it is healed with your medical documentation. Then you wasted everyone’s time. Including your own. Your recruiter is correct. Come back when it’s gone. Problem solved!

Thank you everyone. I had 13 warts on my feet 29 days ago. I found a podiatrist that has cleared all but 2 up. She is watching the big one that year visible wart is gone to make sure there is no regrow. She thinks I’ll be good to go to meps after my next appointment in about 13 days. She is amazed at the speed, all I could say is God deserves all the glory!

Just so you know MEPS is a DoD agency that has Army people detailed to it. Its sole purpose Is to ensure anyone entering the Armed Forces meets the established medical standards. So not really being part of the Army, they dont care how many times you cycle through the local MEPS station, they only care that you clear all the standards during your visit. Wounds or issues with the feet can be a disqualifying issue because your using and on your feet almost constantly in BCT. So it is better to wait until the issue clears up before attempting to clear MEPS.

I had a couple warts on my hands when I joined, and I don't remember MEPS even mentioning them. Maybe it's different for the feet? Honestly, I'm not sure. And I doubt your Recruiter would do anything to lead you down the wrong path, just do what he says and you should be alright.

PFC Jeffrey Herrington - Actually, when I enlisted, only one war was going on (I signed up in July of 2002) but that might have made it a little easier to get in. And thanks for the thanks!

Plantar warts can make walking very painful if they get bad enough. I waited too long before going to see a doctor (I was dumb ass, what I can say) and they ended had gotten so bad that they had to be cut out. I still have a "C" shaped scar on the bottom of my foot. If he has plantar warts he needs to take care of them before he leaves for Basic Training.
