I have a DD 4187 proving my promotion, my old reserve unit can’t find anything supporting it. What to expect?

So I was in the reserves then went active then got out. Got promoted when I was in the reserves, kept all my supporting documents (DD4187) but my reserves unit has nothing. When I reclassed went active I got demoted in FLW although I had my 4187. Now when I got out “discharged” chortle after .. my DD214 has my actual rank in it. Now that I’m going back active what should I expect?

Coin toss, if you are not going into a CPL slot don't expect it. That grade is the most confusing one in the Army.

You will not retain the rank of Corporal unless you were a DA selected to be a Corporal, meaning you have/had actual orders stating your promotion. Everything other than. DA select promotion is just a lateral transfer to Corporal from Specialist and is subject to denial upon you going to a new unit. I’ve been there done that Corporal life. PFC (Join to see)

And almost never a DA select...

PFC (Join to see) ahh man, well the dd214 should suffice to bring you back in at E4 and the 4187 should establish your TIG so you can get over to BLC and pick up E5.

Your DD 214 has your actual rank so that will be your rank when you go after. If your break in service was short you’ll even keep the date of rank that’s on your DA 4187
