I highly recommend the Red Cross, if you provide the space and donors, they will do everything else.

Charity begins at home. Check with your base chaplains and see if they know of any need that you could serve. I bet there are some. Our VFW post is helping collect food and necessities for young Marine families stationed at Camp Pendleton. Yes, it's easy to remonstrate them for leaping foolishly into marriage and breeding like rabbits on an E1-5 salary, but that doesn't help, does it?

I did a push ups for food once. Just set up a group of Cadets outside a grocery store with signs and greet the customers. Offer to do 10 push ups or so for each item they donate.
