Yes. If refereed for a MEB your separation will be delayed pending MEB/PEB results.

MAJ Carl Ballinger - Sir, you are incorrect.

BLUF: If You need to be MEB'd the QMP is paused. If you are deemed FIT for duty, the QMP continues. If you are unfit, you will medically retire (if over 30% Army), and the QMP is abated.

THE PROVISIONS OF THIS PARAGRAPH ALSO APPLY WHEN THE SOLDIER IS REFERRED TO THE IDES AFTER THE QMP BOARD FINDINGS ARE APPROVED.

D. WHEN THE MTF COMMANDER OR ATTENDING MEDICAL OFFICER DETERMINES THAT A SOLDIER BEING PROCESSED FOR POTENTIAL DENIAL OF CONTINUED SERVICE UNDER THE QMP DOES NOT MEET THE MEDICAL FITNESS STANDARDS FOR RETENTION (SEE AR 40–501, CHAP 3 (REF H)), THE MEDICAL OFFICER WILL REFER THE SOLDIER TO A MEDICAL EVALUATION BOARD (MEB) IN ACCORDANCE WITH AR 40–400 (REF G). THE QMP PROCEEDINGS WILL CONTINUE PENDING THE RESULTS OF THE MEB. IF THE MEB FINDINGS INDICATE THAT REFERRAL OF THE CASE TO A PHYSICAL EVALUATION BOARD (PEB) IS WARRANTED FOR DISABILITY PROCESSING UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF AR 635–40, THE MTF COMMANDER WILL FURNISH COPIES OF THE APPROVED MEB PROCEEDINGS TO THE SOLDIER’S GENERAL COURT-MARTIAL CONVENING AUTHORITY (GCMCA) AND UNIT COMMANDER. THE MEB PACKET FORWARDED TO THE PEB WILL DOCUMENT THE STAGE OF QMP EVALUATION THE SOLDIER WAS AT WHEN THE SOLDIER WAS REFERRED TO THE DES (SEE PARAGRAPH C ABOVE). THE GCMCA WILL NOTIFY HRC, IN WRITING, THAT THE SOLDIER WILL BE PROCESSED THROUGH THE DES. HRC WILL SUSPEND PROCESSING OF THE QMP ACTION PENDING THE PEB DECISION. IF THE SOLDIER IS FOUND PHYSICALLY FIT, THE QMP ACTION WILL BE RESUMED. IF THE SOLDIER IS FOUND PHYSICALLY UNFIT, THE QMP ACTION WILL BE ABATED. SOLDIERS FOUND UNFIT AND SELECTED FOR QMP ARE NOT ELIGIBLE TO APPLY FOR CONTINUATION ON ACTIVE DUTY (COAD) OR CONTINUATION ON ACTIVE RESERVE (COAR). THE PROVISIONS OF THIS PARAGRAPH ALSO APPLY WHEN THE SOLDIER IS REFERRED TO THE IDES AFTER THE QMP BOARD FINDINGS ARE APPROVED.

I am in the same boat. I was selected for qmp and was denied co tinted service. I have also been fighting with anmedical condition since March 2015. I have had 2 surgeries and 7 procedures since December and nobody has even mention medboard because I am on qmp. I am starting my fight on Monday. What else do you have to lose. What are they going to do kick me out haha

It should not be a fight. If you are eligible for an MEB, then it should be started, and let IDES board make the call.

If the PCM will not start an MEB, find out why, Medical care can not be denied just because you are close to ETS, or selected for QMP. They can play the delay game.

I have personally witnessed a CG medically extend a SM on the day of their ETS because the PCM did not want to start an MEB (because the SM was ETSing) even though they should be MEB'd and met all the requirements.

Look at the regulations and assert the fact you should be MEB'd. As you said you have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

ICE comments and the Ombudsman are amazing ways to start, or as we did, the CGs open door policy.
