CJ Grisham, President of Open Carry Texas, Army veteran and recent candidate for State Representative in District 55, along with a couple of other people was arrested yesterday in Olmos Park, TX (Bexar County). He was tazed and subsequently injured in that arrest with a head injury and was hospitalized. I was told that the head injury was a large gash on the back of the head. He also suffered numerous scrapes on his wrists and arms.

Grisham and crew were legally opening carrying pistols and long guns in response to an event last week when an Olmos Park police officer drew guns on and detained someone with a protest sign solely for the reason of open carrying a pistol (which turned out to be a training fake).

Grisham had a phone conversation with the Olmos Park Police Chief, Rene Valenciano about their policies, etc. in which the chief seemed entirely unconcerned with his officers illegally detaining people for a perfectly legal activity. (The conversation will be linked in the comments below).

Grisham and crew went to Olmos Park yesterday and were legally and peacefully open carrying and got arrested for it. There is a video of the arrest. There was no articulated probable cause for the arrest. The police showed up, including Chief Valenciano and ordered Grisham and his crew to the ground. Grisham at least refused. It was Valenciano that personally tazed and arrested Grisham.

Between the phone call and video from the site, it's very clear this was an illegal arrest by an oath breaking police officer and they will be held accountable.

With the rise in domestic terrorism in the last few years and a failed insurrection on January 6 of this year, I suspect that protesting while armed is a thing of the past. If a riot breaks out during your protest, how do the police know which people carrying guns are the GOOD guys?

And this is why I am no fan of the police. They do not care about the law nor your constitutional rights.

MSG Brian Keene ha! I, yes they are... in every single major city, inside and around San Antonio, where this took place. Maybe you're not as up and up as you claim to be. I live in San Antonio and know exactly where this took place. No police chief and any jurisdiction around this liberal shithole wants OCT and has openly discouraged any citizen to take part in the activities... but I guess I'm not up and up

Normally I would agree with the "just comply crowd" but unfortunately I can't. Our legal system is too screwed up to believe your rights will be protected. Cops lie and forge paperwork, cops will lie on the stand, some cops don't care about the law only their verison of it like in this case. I took a oath to defended the constitution, I did not take oath to defend police departments or political party just the constitution as it is written not how I choose to interpret it. So thanks to years of dirty cops, illegal police killings of citizens, illegal search and seizures, cops raping women on duty, cops beating their wives and cops planting evidence, they can not be blindly trusted. I have friends who are LEO'S, so I'm not anti-police but my trust in them as a whole is at all-time low. I share the same beliefs as a LEO, I will protect myself and family at all cost regardless of a badge or who the person is threatening my safety or my family safety. Have a blessed day everyone.

Sue the Doo Doo out of them and make them an example of how idiots should be treated. Getting fired is too little too late for this police dept.

Just watched the video and simply speechless and appalled at the gross abuse of power and the violation of American citizens civil rights! ALL of those wearing badges of law enforcement are guilty of violating their oaths of office and should summarily be fired as well as arrested immediately! Not one of them declared why they were there or for what reason they had for the interaction, nor did they at least once try to de-escalate the situation. The police chief is guilty of assault amongst the other charges. Those against 2A are going to repeat this over an over again...I for one am tired of the overreach and if they continue this path, there will be a time in the future when there will be bloodshed and the guilty are those who do NOT support the constitution. Makes me very angry to see this in our country!

Unfortunately the law has to change with regards to how police interact with civilians and in this case law abiding citizens. Law enforcement can get away with how they approach these situations (when they take action in a bad way) under what is called "Qualified Immunity". A good analogy of this is what most people know as "Diplomatic Immunity" with Foreign Government Officials. Yes this incident will be investigated, taken court, reviewed, etc. but after a long an difficult process this will be dismissed (in someway) and the police officer's involved will go back to work or at get reassigned to another location and will still be in Law Enforcement. The police are protected by very powerful organizations which include the "Fraternal Order of Police", their Police Unions, local and State police attorney groups, IBPO / IBCO (and the list goes on). They know how to deal with these issues and this Immunity, under the law, allows them to take aggressive and violent behavior. If this law were changed police would have to think twice before they use force or deadly force because they would know they would be held accountable with no immunity type of protection. Consequence would be real then. Good video to watch on this is by Steve Lehto (lawyer) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C3-egJCXufQ , it is an eye opener.

I am very aware on wday going in with OCT and this action. Olmos Park is an area of San Antonio that's kinda left to its own, the area where if you're not a rideshare driver, you can have the cops called on you. OCT if a fantastic movement and I agree with what they're doing. Bringing to light your rigid and abilities, safely and everyone goes home at the end of the day. OCT doesn't have any videos of them shooting themselves unlike other "pro rights" group

Unfortunately most people including military and Leo's don't know and haven't learned the organic documents of our Federal Government as well as the State Constitution of their jurisdictions.
