I have the time to retire, but I was told that I needed to re-enlist in order for my son to use the GI bill for school. Do I?

A va rep told me I didn’t need to, but my peers told me I had to re-enlist. Where do I go for the right information?

It's across the DOD, you owe four years from the day you transfer your GI Bill. Your retirement will be denied until you've served the four years or you rescind the transfer. If your dependent uses any of your benefits and you rescind the transfer you will be responsible for repaying the tuition, the BAH, and the stipends that were paid.

I transferred my benefits and received word from the VA that I was obligated to an additional four years. Further down the same letter it read number of months benefits remaining: 0. It's a moot point as I've already served beyond the fours years but it did read as if I would be obligated to the time without the benefits for my kids.
Where do you find this info? Go to milconnect, log in, and click on “transfer my benefits”. You will find a full explanation there, along with a POC for each branch you can contact. That’s where you will get the most definitive and up to date answer.
