I heard Re-enlistment bonuses signed for while in country are tax free. Does that include portions conditional on completion of schooling?

I'm planning on re-upping for counter intel with the USMC, and the sizeable bonus is conditional on me graduating the school. I was told that I might not get taxed on it because I am re enlisting in country. Is that true?

I was under the impression that if you re-enlist or extend your contact while in country it's tax free and you get it all in one lump payment.

LCpl (Join to see) Below is information that might help. I would receive the official word from your unit.

If you are a military member who serves in a combat zone you can exclude certain pay from your income when figuring your taxes.
