I just accepted a position as an OC/T at Camp Atterbury. What can I expect as a 19D SSG?

Coming off recruiting, I’m excited to get back in the field again but I’m just curious what my expectations should be? Especially at Camp Atterbury. Thanks for the help, input and time.

I was on OC/T with 1st Army............... hands down the best assignment i have had with the Army. Rewarding in the fact that you see how Soldiers grow due to your mentor-ship and instruction during their training; from when they first arrive to the platform to departure being a ready and capable force for deployment. Camp Atterbury, Indiana is a small installation they do have a small PX and gym and a MWR building this was back in 2010 so it may have changed. But its a small quiet town outside the gate not much to do as i recall if you like that; and Indianapolis is not too far.

I’m assuming you’re going to be in 1st Army. You can expect to mentor NG and Reserve units on their ATs. I just spent 2 years doing it. It’s an interesting job to say the least. If you want to shoot me a PM I’ll give you the “real deal”.

Welcome to Atterbury-Muscatatuck, SSG Cazenave! From what I hear the AD guys find it more of a relaxing assignment, few months TDY. Its a small training post, be warned. Most of our real estate is down range, cantonment really only has a gym, small px and subway.

You'll be coming into a fun time SSG Cazenave, according to the wind that is. WOLF is a great group of people though.
