I just found out I’ll be stationed at Fort Cavazos, 10th cav regiment. Any insight? How the location is? How it is for families, etc?

Its not bad. My husband and I retired here. White rock estates is a good place to live if you have kids. The military housing on west fort hood (cavazos) is decent I hear.

Don't call it Ft. Hood. That's my only advice.

I’ve been there twice. Field training is tough but rewarding. If you’re going 11B, you’re going to get the full spectrum of vehicle crew and dismounted infantry. If you’re into MMA/ Brazillian Jiu Jitsu, the Fight Club was an awesome gym when I was there. It had great classes and gear.
Family medical and day care was the best I saw in the Army.
