I just received a call from the 1SG at the (12P) Prime Power school saying I am accepted. What should be the next step for the family and me?

For anyone that is searching on RallyPoint about this reclass in the future, this is for you.
After the packet process is complete and you are accepted into the school, the first step you should take is to inform your Unit Retention NCO, re-enlist for required Time-Remaining in Service, and give them your Acceptance Memo.
Retention will then reach out to HRC (after re-enlistment under Option 3 for reclass is completed) to have you placed on assignment. This is your Rentention NCO’s responsibility. They, or the Career Counselor the work with, MUST initiate this with HRC. Post AG will not do this for you, they will simply point back in the direction of Rentention.
**You need to make sure you and your family are squared away for PCS. As an example, if a family member is enrolled in EFMP, make sure they have been updated to cover the entire training period at Leonard Wood.**
Once you are on assignment, you will then go through your unit S1 (who will reach out to post AG) to get your LEVY packet started. LEVY packet must be complete before your PCS orders will be generated.
Now, since this is a reclass, you typically will need a funding memo. Your chain of command can direct you to your Resource Managment Division (RMD) for help here, as you will need to go through DTS to generate a 1610. This is after a funding request has been sent up to your Regional Budget Office (see RMD for help), they will send you a funding memo saying it is approved. The information within that memo will be used to generate the 1610.
**Please note that Region will not give the funding memo without you being on orders, so LEVY and Orders must happen first.**
After that, you are squared away and ready to PCS for reclass. Message me if you have questions that I may be able to help you with.

I received mine a week after my interview, but with other Soldier's it has taken up to a few months.

To add to this, the funding memo may not be necessary to all Soldiers. I do know that MEDCOM required it, but I’m not sure for other major commands.

I am currently a 91D and I am interested in prime power. What do I need, or who do I need to talk to, in order to get a packet for 12P? I planned to reclassify after this contract but reading this made me realize that I'll have problems... I'll be getting back to my unit 3 months before my ets date. I do have some time before I leave to get the ball rolling.

Look me up on Global. I'm still currently at the Prime Power School at Fort Leonard Wood. I'll send you information about the application process via Outlook.

In the academic phase (which I am currently in), you get a 2-week crash course on college-level Algebra, Geometry, and a lot of Trig. This is your foundation for the rest of the modules (next 3 modules are Physics [my class 002-17 is currently in Physics], then Mechanical Engineering, and Electrical Engineering. I had not taken a math class in several years, so brushing up on your Algebra and Trig are extremely beneficial IMO. You will get a lot of homework, so brushing off the dust on your math basics will do wonders for your free time. We generally have 2-3 hours worth of homework in Mathematics, but so far in Physics, it has ramped up.
That being said, even if you do not brush up on your math, you will not be behind -- you should be able to obtain all the skills you need during class. However, this is not advised especially if you have not taken a math class. Some get it, some don't.
See you soon.

I have contacted the housing there in Fort Leonard. I am already on the waiting list. how long did it take you to get housing.

I got housing on the same day as I arrived (I drove myself there). I think we were lucky because only one house was available (which turned out to be an upgrade from my original offer).

Can you be in a waiting list without order? Cuz I got accepted but I am still waiting for my order.
When you received your letter of acceptance, how long did it take you to receive your order?

Congratulations. Tough school to qualify for and a tough course. From the officer side, I can say that the two hardest subjects are power distribution and bridging (the math component of bridging has ended more than one officers career). I believe that the Prime Power section has a new training facility and in general the facilities at Leonard Wood are top notch. The area is nice even if it isn't very close to any major city, or maybe because it isn't close to any major city. Just for future reference, the 12P MOS is one of the preferred feeders for a 120A Warrant Officer position.
Haven't been around for a long time, no guess about duty station.
Good luck,
