Find out who certifies dogs in your state. For example, in California the primary organization for certifying narcotic detection dogs is the CNCA (California Narcotic Canine Association). Find out who is certified in your area and go to them. There are numerous private trainers that are certified. Also, go to your local or state agency that uses dogs and ask them who trains or certifies their dogs.

I called Trikos once and emailed as well, and didn't receive a response. So they are either too busy to respond or they weren't interested. I know some people would say keep calling, but I think that would be annoying and that's the last thing I want to do.

SGT Charles W. - so now maybe you need to find someone to introduce you to them, this way they have an idea who their talking to.

Find an Organization that trains dogs, show up there and ask to volunteer. See where that may lead you. If you have no experience at all find a dog club and run a dog through basic obedience and learn, become a "civilian" trainer. Also many good schools to attend if you look hard enough.
