I lied at meps . I was told I had heart murmur when I was 6 and was told that I would grow out of it little to say I didn’t they found it at meps . I have to go to a cardiologist 3 weeks from now to say if it’s a no go or not . The doctor who found it said it not a big deal and they will let me in . But I’m afraid that they will go back on my medical records and find out I lied . A bunch of others told me to just play dumb . What do you think will they look back on my medical records after finding a heart murmur ?

Every single one of these dweeb CSM and 1SGT fellows spouting the creed and listing values are probably lying to their doctors about all sorts of things. The truth is... If they ask you a question, answer it. If they ask you why you didnt mention it before, you forgot to mention it. MEPS isnt in the business of trying to weed people out that way. It's not as big a deal as you think. This kind of thing happens a lot.

IMO, Creed and values kind of went out the window , when we did not all come home after the Wall fell.

This right here. They speed read through a whole laundry list of "if you had this as an infant and it hasn't reoccurred we don't care. That list is constantly changing and may even be different depending on who reads it.

Which Army value does this represent?
Loyalty. Bear true faith and allegiance to the U.S. Constitution, the Army, your unit and other Soldiers. ...
Duty. Fulfill your obligations. ...
Respect. ...
Selfless Service. ...
Honor. ...
Integrity. ...
Personal Courage

1SG (Join to see) - I agree with you there is no comparison between failing to disclose a known potential health issue and someone being over weight, its apples and oranges...... The Army has rules and regulations that address being over weight and when the individual has exhausted efforts to address the weight and failed to meet the standards discharge is the final step.

The OP never mentioned the Army. Personally, I’m unfamiliar with the Space Force values... To infinity and beyond?

Even though he didn't tell the whole story, I don't think it is the problem you are making it. A murmur is a murmur- not a disease diagnosis. Murmurs are due to turbulent flow of blood through the heart and they can be caused by a number of things, even anemia. If they didn't pick up a murmur at the MEPS station, I wouldn't necessarily worry about it. I had an "innocent murmur" during one of my early military physicals. They said these occurred early an life and I would grow out of it. I did. I spent a career in the military, and I'm now 70 with no heart problems.

Make this right and tell them the truth, get a waiver. And If you can't get one, then it just wasn't meant to be and move on.

You didnt lie. You improvised. Dont drag your name in the mud to the asshole in the military. There are lots of self righteous pos who think their shit dont stink.

I was told by a doctor once in Junior High that I had a heart murmur, no other doctor ever found a heart murmur. Another doctor diagnosed me with asthma also in Junior High, no other doctor ever did, my bronchial infection went away.

I was diagnosed with asthma when I was less than 2 years old. We did not realize it until I was stationed in Germany that my asthma was actually an allergy to cats!

As a chaplain I get questions like this every once in a while. I was hoping for a solid answer myself from someone on here. Personally, the military is so big that no one is even looking for this. But in reality if medical checked for it, they found it, but the cardiologist is okay with it, than you are good. Your medical history kinda sorta doesn't matter at this point because they already know. Just my 2 cents.

If you’re looking for a way out. Stop wasting the recruiter’s time and spending taxpayer money on something you do not really want to do. Cancel the appointment and move on and join the other million's who say, "I wanted to join but..."

How many people lied about their age back in the day? I "lied" about how many times I smoked pot. What difference does it make if it was 2 or 20?
As far as what you lied about, I would call that inconsequential. Even if you told the recruiter, he would still push you through and get a physical done anyway. Especially since it was when you were 6 and were told you would grow out of it. I've had a doctor mention be thought he heard one when I was in high school. I never heard it mentioned again and I was in flight status for 12 years, having a physical every year. I even got diagnosed with migraines half way through and got a waiver and was still flying, even though it's supposed to be disqualifying. Just like you were told, it'll probably just be waivered and become a non-issue.
