I am 30 and thinking of trying the military again. What should I consider?

So 10 years ago i failed out of Army AIT. I had trouble reaching my pt scores and was doing poorly in my intellegence analysis classes. So my question is as a 30 year old thinking of rejoining the armed forces what are some things i should consider before talking to a recruiter.

You need to think about getting into better shape for the new Army Fitness Test that now has 5 events instead of the original 3 from 10 years ago. You need to think about perhaps picking an MOS that won't provide you too much problems academically but also at the same time challenge you and that you'd enjoy. You also need to think about what will benefit you more regarding the component you choose: Guard, Reserve or Active Duty.

Great advice. He needs to get in shape. It doesn't get easier as you get older. Also, he should retake the ASVAB and then talk to an Army Career Counselor about his job options.

PVT Nathan Coyle What are you hoping to accomplish by retrying the military at age 30? Are you considering a single enlistment or a career? Discipline and determination will see you through many challenges. Goog luck and let us know what the recruiter says.
