Marine major in the SMCR, twice passed over for promotion. I had nothing bad in my record, just didn’t do PME (ILE). I was busy having a family, get to my MBA, starting a business, etc, and the Marine Corps faded as a priority to me. I was planning to retire but the Guard asked me to come aboard, with the caveat that I enroll in ILE immediately. I suddenly find myself in a place in life where I have time to do ILE and keep my military career going and excited about the military in a way I haven’t been in years. However, my packet to join the Army has been at the Assistant Sec of the Army (M&RA) for over three months. This was after it went through NGB. The state TAG signed off on my package. I went though a FedRec board that approved me prior to NGB approval. Does anyone have any insight on this process? How long it should take? Any chance I will be approved? Any information? No one I’m in contact with seems to know anything about it.

What state are you joining?
That's a very long time for any paperwork.
It may be worth ot to drive over to the state Headquarters and talk to the folks in officer branch and get things on track. My experience was that the guard did HR stuff faster than the regular Army but it's probably because i walked over and met the folks working it. If they are too far away get on the phone. Let me know if you need some help finding contacts.

Louisiana. They’ve been great. I’m in contact with them. My paperwork was approved by NGB and forwarded to the Army about three months ago. Now just trying to figure out what’s next. Did you do this?

No, I did 5 guard enlisted years, almost 17 active was passed over for LTC Regular army, resigned and transferred to the guard for a year and found another job i wanted in the Reserves and switched to that position. Though i never got to take that position as the Army put me back on active duty as soon as they updated my paperwork.

So i already had federal recognition for my rank and it didn't half to go up farther.

Are you able to drill yet or do you have to wait for this? 3 months is crazy.

LTC (Join to see) my package went to NGB almost 5 months ago. Been at Sec of the Army for 3 months. No one seems to know the process there. I require an exception to policy from the Secretary for being twice passed over. It has been approved at the state and NGB level. Just looking for someone who has been through this.
