I'm about to leave AIT to PCS to my duty station and I need information on being a geographic bachelor. Should I wait to get married?

Wait! I saw a lot of soldiers (below Sgt. rank) get married, and almost every one of them failed. The stress of transfers, being in the field for long periods, housing, bills, etc. tore apart their marriages. The military is a learning experience, so experience it, and then get married. If your "soon to be" really loves you, and you love them, it can wait.

If I were you, I would wait until settled in for awhile, maybe wait until a couple of promotions, being a newly wed and not together is tough. Your possible/probable deployments will be tough enough. In the end its your decision. I advise wait, plan and save.

Well if you are trying to get separation pay you might not get it. Also is it a duty station you wife can go to? If so then you might as well get married now so you can get the BAH but not separation pay! What reason is she not coming with you?

I'm not sure, I'm unfamiliar with ft.campbell. She's not coming with me because she's finishing out her degree.
I also can't find any current reliable information on geo-bachelor status, separation pay and such.

Well Ft Campbell she can come but you won’t get separation pay because you two chose her not to come but you will get BAH so go if you are married. Also look up apartments cause you might save more money if you get BAH AND Get a apartment instead of staying in base on base and not being married. So see if getting married 1st with it cause when you get married you can’t stay in barracks!

I didn't know those were such things I had to take into consideration. I was told that I would be considered a "geographical bachelor" and would be living in the barracks, if my spouse didn't pcs with me. Would I get BAH if I was married but she didn't pcs with me?

@pvt Yeah remember you two chose for her now to move not Cause the military location but you will get BAH and not live in barracks. Who also told you you would be considered a bachelor?
