I'm being forced coverted from a MM-Aux. I request a new rating soon. What can I expect from Mineman billets?

I've been in just over 4 years and served as a A-ganger on a boomer. I'm requesting my top three rates to convert to because I'm medically disqualified from Submarines, but fit for most everything else. I've been told MN only go to three homeports. How does being stationed in Bahrain or Japan?
