I'm currently in 35N AIT at Goodfellow. What percentage of us will go to Inscom and what percent to Forcecom. What will be the difference?

When discussing INSCOM vs FORSCOM for 35Ns, it mainly comes down to Strategic/Theater SIGINT vs Echelons Corps and Below (ECB) SIGINT.
35Ns in INSCOM strategic units are primarily at the "Echelons above reality" locations such as NSA cryptologic centers* (the "700 club") and the Theater MI Brigades (MIBs) that support COCOMs (i.e., EUCOM, PACOM, etc.) and the Army Service Component Command (i.e., USAEUR, ARCENT, etc.) in each theater.
If you're in a strategic unit, you'll be in an 'office environment' and do a lot of "behind vault doors" type of stuff. If you're at a FORSCOM or an MIB, it's going to depend on your assignment as saying they are "all over the map" is an understatement.
As for the specific assignments available and percentage allocation - The Army Career Tracker (ACT - https://actnow.army.mil/) is your friend ('duty position search' under the 'plan' tab). The allocation will be "it depends" because frankly, you're a round peg that will be put in a round hole by HRC and which round holes are out there will depend on "needs of the Army".
One tip - bookmark the 35N homepage on HRC which keeps updated assignment policies, opportunities and professional development information. It also has links to the 35N Community page and Career Map on ACT.

CPL Abram Fisher - Most of their time in the motor pool is hyperbole. However, for a 35N who is not on mission, it's real tough to spend time working in the MOS, kinda like how for an 11B who isn't deployed it's real tough to spend time working in the MOS.
The majority of 35N jobs are in INSCOM.
In addition to the regular assignments to the Agency (or directly supporting), there are specific career broadening opportunities to the Agency.
And even if you don't end up getting either of those, the work experience alone will still be enough to apply to the Agency as you are getting out.

What exactly are you doing at forcecom as a 35N during peacetime?

CPL Abram Fisher - Preparing to perform tactical SIGINT missions in the event of war. Tactical SIGINT platoons provide provide battlefield commanders a great footprint within their areas of responsibility; missions rarely happen without SIGINT being briefed.

CPL Abram Fisher - Ideally at some point in the year, working on MITS Tier IV (individual) and Tier III (team), preparing to certify at Tier II at either an EXEVAL, xCTC or CTC, depending on the year.
This would be "working in your MOS".

From a retired 35N (98C) way back when...coming out of Goodfellow, it's needs of the Army, unless you jump out of airplanes. I've served at all echelons from muddy boots (82d, 3rd SF, 25th) to COCOM (SOUTHCOM) to the mecca (NSA). 35N will provide a diverse set of opportunities...much like the COL stated. That said, an observation...soldiers who go muddy boots first tend to get a better flavor for the Army that those who get an office job. Those office jobs are not the Army experience...hit me up if you have more questions.

Other students here have told me that 35N in Forcecom spend most of their time in motorpools not doing their jobs. Is that accurate? Also what are job prospects like for both. My goal is to join the NSA. What is quality of life like for both? Is this a good MOS pick? Any extra info please add.

CPL Abram Fisher - I did spend my fair share of motorpool and field time -- that's part of being in the Army. I will add that the flipside is that I've seen many Soldiers get pigeonholed into a specific office and there is little to no professional growth in that office setting. Regardless of which command you get assigned to, you ability to get picked up by NSA is great as you;ll have a clearance already (obviously slightly better odds if you are in an INSCOM unit). But the agency is located in the DC area, Hawaii, San Antonio, Augusta GA and other locations, so there are plenty of post military opportunities. Additionally, contract work at those locations is also an option. 35N is a great pick, but I'm biased -- The job has a large base of skillsets to begin with with opportunities to add to that skillset that the other MOSs do not necessarily have. Good Luck

What about SOCOM? Have you heard of the Great Skill Program? Just throwing it out there.
