I'm currently trying to become a 12T (Technical Engineer). What is the job like once you're on base?

Only did it in the reserves, never really even did my job other than training, so I'm not a good reference. Would have loved doing it for real, but didn't get the chance.

Learning the trade. And if I was your supervisor, I would make sure to guide you into getting your Certified Survey Technician credentials.

The Certified Survey Technician Board of Directors recognizes that COVID-19 pandemic continues to impact everyone. With schedules disrupted, restrictions on travel implemented, gatherings limited, and shelter-in-place mandates in many states, our normal routines have been severely disrupted.

Depends what unit you’re in. Some units don’t do any surveying, drafting or Tango duties. Some stations will throw you in with 12W or 12B. If you do get stationed in a Tango unit, you will be working on projects which includes using AutoCAD or other drafting programs that you learn in AIT. You will also be surveying using different equipment depending on what needs to be surveyed.
