I'm PCSing to Fort Gordon in May. I found an apartment but it's a new complex and won't be ready til July. Any ideas where I can stay temp?

My wife won't be able to join me til September. As far as I'm tracking Geo-Bach is only for OCONUS so the barracks are out. I was possibly thinking of doing an extended stay place.

I believe they have PCS barracks on base,they also have, I forget what it is called but it's like a hotel but they have kitchenettes in them

There is an Extended Stay on Jimmy Dyess Parkway by I-20 if the above options fall through....roughly 5 mins from the gate which is a straight shot

Do You have friends or family in that area? Check with Human Resource office for contact information of other Soldiers You might stay with for that time.

I was stationed there for 2 1/2 years not including training. The unit that I was in was great for getting in college and military classes. There were very few people in my unit who were not working on something. Have fun!

Your sponsor should be the best source for information on the local area and options with regard to possibly staying in the barracks until your spouse arrives. If it is an option, no need spending money you do not have to. Augusta has some areas you should avoid. Some of the little towns that were once trailer parks are now pretty nice so you have lots of options. If you have kids, schools are very different from gate to gate.
