I received a citation for leaving outdoor lights on the day I left to Fort Sam Houston to have surgery. We left early in the morning to for my surgery and had to stay overnight. When we returned there was a citation for leaving the lights on during day light hours. I don't know why, but it really bothered me that someone would be that concern over lights being left on. I'm sure there are other more important issues that need to be addressed.

If you can reach the person who actually did it, and you are nice, and you explain the situation, it is very likely you can get them to remove it.

These are the things that tick me off. I constantly feel like I am being taken advantage of when living on post.

I think that's ticky tack. Especially in your situation. Try calling the housing office and explain your situation. Face it. We are humans and we all make mistakes.

I received a citation for living my outdoor lights on. When is it acceptable to receive a citation from on-post housing?

I would get a citation for my grass all of the time at Fort Hood. We (my neighbors) and I would cut it twice a week to keep in in regulation, but our entire housing unit would get citations the day after cutting for it being too long.

It's Housing likely wrote it, but either they are being full jerks or they're responding to a busy body dependent who's got a superiority axe that always needs to be ground.
