I see the army Warrior leadership course has replaced PLDC. What is the new curriculum about?

SGT,
I may not know all the details, but it appeared a first that it was just a facelift with name change as we went into "warrior" crazy themes. However, I know a lot who went to PLDC and said that WLC does not prepare Soldiers for leadership as well. It also appeared for a period that land navigation skills were not as big of a focus.
(Note: on a personal note I am all for train then promote and that may be why it seems that WLC is not necessary the best school at this point.)

Thank you sir. I was wondering about the differences and was concerned that it was a matter of semantics facelift.

All of NCOES has changed. The only constant is ht & wt and the pt test.
The schools change with times, seems they spend more time in the classroom on computers then in the field, least that's what I've told. I've been out for a little over a yr so I've been out of touch but I thought I read somewhere not too long ago that they were thinking of changing it again. I'm glad I don't have to go anymore.

I am going to have to agree with you. Less time learning HOW to lead from the front and more time sitting on their butts looking at screens.

Exactly which leads to a poorer quality of leader once they reach E7 and E8. Where they not only effect a team or squad but a whole plt. Lets hope it will get better.

Now it's BLC, though I don't know why I'm seeing this. Topics covered likely still cover D&C, Troop Leading Procedures, PRT, Land Nav, Op Orders, fighting sleep in the classroom, and coffee.

Wow. Warrior Leader was replaced by the Basic Leader Course in.....2015. You're just a little behind the power curve.

Mostly Runs through the new ADP/ADRP, and the go through the basics of D&C, In Ranks Inspections. With a little bit of Army writing, (History Biography). Land Nav, and basic Patrolling. Nothing to in depth. It is pretty easy and really just a check the block course. I belive that BLC needs to be MOS based because some of these young SGT's really have no clue. And some are really high speed. Mostly depends on the leadership of their units though.

It has had several makeovers from PNCOC, PLDC, PLC; ETC. I was the first PFC to go to the PNcoc Course in Fort Knox, KY in 1980. I went on to went Soldier of The Year

Well, when they were sending PFCs to WLC just to get people into the school, there was a problem. These Soldiers came back jacked up and well, worthless. They had to be put back in line just because they had attended an "NCO" course. I mean come on, it went from over a month long PLDC where you lived at the course, no exceptions. To you going back to your own barracks or home every night and a two week course. Really Army? Really? I certainly hope that it has returned to a MUCH higher standard where not everyone got a trophy, nor did you get a waiver.
