I took a 42A job after being 7 points off on ASVAB from getting a my preferred 35M. How quickly can I bump up my score and reclass?

This is unclear. 1,. Did you enlist for the 42A, and have you been sworn in and or in training for the 42A. 2. There are no JOBS in the military, this ain't no 9-5, quit when you want to. There are classes offered to improve your GT score. You can find classes to improve the weak areas of your ASVAB. This will take time. 3. Depending on whether you are Active, Reserve or NG component, will decide the easy or reclassing. Normally, if you are in training and or in a unit, you aren't allowed to reclass till 1 yr prior to ETS, unless you are going into a critical shortage MOS. A retention/re-enlistment NCO should be able to guide you on this.

In this case I would have waited for enlisting, study hard, retake ASVAB and get MOS I wanted. But it's just my opinion..

Changing your MOS is extremely difficult. Once you sign a contract you are bound by it. It is like buying a car and then saying you really didn't want it. You can raise your GT score but once you are in the only way I have seen anyone reclass is by re-enlisting or if there is an overage in your MOS and a shortage in another MOS. Besides that I hope you like paperwork.

They told me it was a good job and that I could put in papers to take classes to boost my score, then retake the ASVAB and start training as a 35M. I'm stressed out now, because no one is giving me clear answers.

Sorry. As far as improving your ASVAB, the only such thing I know of is the FAST class to improve your GT score, which you can ask about at the Education Center of your first duty station. If it’s more line scores than just your GT, then I’m not sure. When it comes to reclassifying in the Army, as of right now you can only reclassify to a non packet MOS (such as 35M) when you are within 15 months of ETS (aka your reenlistment window). Once your in your window, and meet all requirements of 35M, go see your unit career counselor and he/she can get you the job you want.
Lastly, and this is the most important, because this is what stopped me from reclassing, your MOS CAN NOT be understrength in your skill level when you try to reclass. They will not let you exit unless you’re either A) leaving an overstrength MOS to go to an understrength/balanced MOS or B) you can request to leave a balanced MOS for a balanced/understrength.

Do it now. HR fucking sucks. You’ll get treated like shit, and be talked to like you do not work even though you’re at work till 8 at night

The wait time between ASVAB tests is 30 days, unless for some reason you need to retake it a fourth time, in which case it is six months.
Reclassing is a bit thornier, as you will either need the support of your CoC to release you for training or wait until your reenlistment window. If waiting for reenlistment, in/out calls on your MOS and the gaining one will matter as well, although 42A is seldom understrength.
Do not stress about things that you can't control. Study and retake the test. Work the system from there.
Good luck, PVT (Join to see)

I am not getting any clear answers. I was told I could it was a really good job and that I could put in papers to take classes to boost my score, then retake the ASVAB and start training as a 35M. I was going to go Calvary, but they talked me out of it because I was a few pounds off on lifting the required weight. Then, I was going to go into Intel. Now, I feel pretty bad about this situation.
