I took the DLAB in March 1983 and got a 119. I enlisted for Russian and graduated DLI in 1984. Is my 119 still a good sccore?

I am planning to go back Active Duty and was told I need a DLAB score of 107. I have proof on old 2-1 of my 119 score. Can I be required to take it again, or is my score still valid? Oh, yes, 32 years later, I still speak, read and write Russian, which I learned in 1984 at DLIFLC.

I would contact the DLI Registrar's office and get records from your DLI training. They should have records going back that far. Then, I would take the RU DLPT to show demonstrated proficiency in the language, if that option is available to you. That, with your old record of the 119 (which I believe is the equivalent of a 109, but I'm not entirely sure) should get you in, or at least a strong case for a waiver. The recruiter can also call HRC Language Branch and see what they say about the DLAB issue.

Now the recruiters in Germany say the recruiter in Missouri was wrong and could not send me active duty at all due to age and only 9.5 years active federal service. However, the way things are going, I expect to see a change in that policy at least.it seems a shame to waste my training and experience

From my experiences SSG, if ur skills are right and they are looking for it at the time you may have to re- DLPT to prove it. But if you are of use they will take you.

You'll have to go back to the regs. The scoring system has changed multiple times since then. But there also used to be a provision that once you learned a language at DLI they didn't look at your DLAB anymore.
I did Russian in '86 and then Czech at FSI in 2004-5.
