I took the early out program in the early 90's. TAMP. What are my retirement options?

14 years active and 6 years inactive reserves. Does that still constitute as serving 20 years? if so, am I eligible for filing for retirement?

Only if you did something to get 50 reserve retirement points per year while you were on the Reserve side. You get 15 points for membership, but if you did not drill, go to schools, or do any additional duty to get the additional 35 points, you have 4 bad years for retirement.
In addition, if you aren't aware of it, you do not collect on a Reserve Retirement until age 60.

No you are not. Inactive time is not credited for retirement. If you were in the Reserves or Guard and had six good years then you could be credited for those years and retire.

That isn't entirely correct. IRR and IMA soldiers still get 15 points for Membership towards a Reserve Retirement and there are ways to drill for points and do stretches of active duty to make up the additional 35 points for a good year. My experience is that most people don't and the Army, Army Reserve and Army National Guard all tend to Suck when it comes to giving a comprehensive exit briefing for soldiers going IRR.

CPT Lawrence Cable - I will have to agree with this. I was never given the opportunity to gain more points. We had an exit briefing but most of the time was spent on how one can bolster their disability percentage.

PO2 David Thornton - I'm not sure that the Navy mirrors what the Army and Air Force does with the people in Individual Ready Reserve. Still, my son is Navy and they don't seem any better at informing sailors on how to deal with all the administrative stuff both in and after leaving the Navy.

To add to CPT Cables response, if you received compensation (e.g., separation pay) for your early departure, it may be deducted (recouped) from any potential retirement pay (on a draw down basis).

Yes, they did talk about that. And also how one can get more percentage points towards disability.
