I've been invited to a wedding and was asked to wear the dress uniform. Is that generally considered tacky?

Sure. Don't get drunk at the reception and make an ass out of us all. Pack a bag with your disco kit, and change before you get sexy on the dance floor with all the ladies who saw you in uniform. Have fun!

SPC (Join to see) - Ensure you wear your uniform as if you were going to a military ball/ formal occasion. That means wear a bow tie, low quarters, unit awards that you have earned, no DUI's, and no backings on airborne/air assault badges. As far as headgear goes you can bring a beret but it is not required to wear after retreat. Picture for reference. Have a great time at the wedding and remember that you are representing the Army as a whole at a public event. Present yourself professionally and don't get totally sloshed at the reception.
blurb from 670-1
"WHEN THE DRESS BLUE ASU IS WORN FOR EVENING SOCIAL OCCASIONS (AFTER RETREAT) COMMANDERS CAN DIRECT NO HEADGEAR REQUIRED. COMBAT BOOTS AND ORGANIZATIONAL ITEMS, SUCH AS BRASSARDS, MILITARY POLICE (MP) ACCESSORIES AND DISTINCTIVE UNIT INSIGNIA (DUI) ARE NOT AUTHORIZED FOR WEAR WITH THE DRESS BLUE ASU. ALL OTHER ACCESSORIES AND INSIGNIA AUTHORIZED FOR WEAR WITH THE CLASS A SERVICE UNIFORM ARE AUTHORIZED FOR WEAR ON THE DRESS BLUE ASU".

CW2 (Join to see) - as a caveat the uniform police arent going to show up and critique to see if you are right or wrong but you still want to be IAW regulations. Plus i've seen people get married with ties in their ASU's and it just doesnt look right to me.

Go for it man! It isn't tacky at all. One of my cousins asked me to when I was a fresh PFC out of boot camp
