I’m stuck in Korea for another 8 months and wanna start studying while I have all this free time. I know in 68w training they used the Barron’s version but the paramedic one seems outdated.

The book you’ll use is program specific but at University of Health Science Center San Antonio, where flight medics get their Paramedic training they use Nancy Carolines Emergency Care in the Streets.

For the NREMT-P cognitive exam I used EMSTesting.com. Sometimes it is referred to as Platinum Testing. An account will cost you about $100 but it's well worth the expense. I used it when I went for my Paramedic license. If you can consistently score about 80% on those tests, you should have no problems with the National Registry exam.

As for the flight medic... the flight agencies local to me won't even talk to you until you have at least five years of experience on an ambulance and have your Critical Care certification. They MAY give you some credit for your military time. Keep in mind though, what you see in the military is vastly different from what you'll see on the civilian streets (it was for me anyway). That is the experience the flight agencies are looking for.

I want to begin studying for the NREMT-P exam. What book(s) do they use in the flight paramedic program?

You will need to spend 2-5 years as a ground paramedic before most flight paramedic programs will even consider you. Many will give you 1-2years after being hired to achieve your flight paramedic certification. My paramedic students use Nancy Carolina's Emergency scare In The Streets, 8th edition.

I’ve been in a combat arms unit for 4 years now as a 68W, as far as I’m concerned the program only requires one year as a medic in a line unit.
