I want to work with behavioral health but I am currently a transportation officer. How do I go about transferring?

LT it should not be too difficult. The army is currently in need of Clinical Social Workers, Psychologist and Mental health counselors. I had a friend that I was deployed with that went from an 88M to a Pharmacist. As long as you have the required education to fill the slot there should be no issue. I recommend that you contact an AMEDD recruiter in your area and get the paperwork started. You will probably make CPT before the process is complete. It took 1 year and 6 months for my friends packet to be processed.

Perfect! Sir thank you for the response. I plan on beginning my Masters in Clinical Social Work. I have already reached out to an AMEDD recruiter and we are taking the necessary steps. I look forward to getting down to business.

Sir, I recommend contacting the AMEDD down at FT Sam Houston to find out all the details needed to transition over to Medical.

Thank you for the response. I'm trying to look at as many facts as possible so I can make an educated decision. My CPT board packet is due in a few mins so I want to put a plan together so I can begin taking the necessary steps to transfer if I am able.

CPT (Join to see) - It is my understanding....as I kind of just had some experience with this.....in order to transfer to Medical, one has to go thru an AMEDD Recruiter. I say this because my unit commander is having to do this. She was already an Officer in Medical, but in order to properly be billeted in the Commander slot, she had to reclass to a different Medical AOC and she had to go thru an AMEDD Recruiter to do so.
