Everything is the Army can be broken down into three things-

Right place, right time in the right uniform.

Other than that, you'll be fine.

But don't speed in and around Fort Lee, not even 5 miles over the limit. And stay away from the local bars, even though I know you will disregard this, but they tend to attract drunk young Soldiers who have watched too many UFC fights....

I was at P Company for Supply. I had driven there from Sam Houston. I was allowed to leave my vehicle near the barracks and also allowed to warm it up once a week. I couldn't however drive the whole time there.
As a Prior Service, you'll obviously get a bit more slacks than incoming IET soldiers; as long as you don't abuse the advantage. I honestly wouldn't even bother with local bars or whatnot. its' only 2 months of school that will go extremely fast. You should get the safety brief about places around Ft. Lee. The mall may be your only venture worth going, but you'll get tired of it pretty quickly.

Ft. Lee is not to bad. I was there for 4 years and found my self in Richmond a lot cause the surrounding area suckers but, as far as being there for train you might not get to go there or have a need to go there, be careful in Petersburg. It can be rough there. The mall in Colonial Hieghts isn't that bad.

Are you going for AIT or permanent party? That'll make a difference. Either way, go far, far away from base and there are lots of cool things. There are 1,000s of AIT privates all around the base though who march through the mall and what not. Kinda funny to watch but it is what it is. I found the area around the base to be a very depressed economy so keep that in mind too. Some areas had some people that were very disrespectful towards military but some didn't. I'm sure they had their reasons but watch yourself. No need to fight the civilians.
