If a SM has been chosen to go to ALC, but they were unaware and were given the no show status, what should they do?

So what should a SM do? If a SM has been chosen to go to ALC, but they were unaware because of a PCS, and they were given the no show status. The status was reversed because of an investigation. It was deemed that they were not responsible. So, the SM is waiting to get a new date, and a 2 star general signed a request recommending the SM receive a date. What should the next step be?

Status was reversed? GO signed off on receiving a new date? Well, the only thing left is for someone to submit a new date/seat request.

Have them go see IG. They have a magical way of having things happen faster if a soldier has been wronged.

How can your friend, a SGT (?) be expected to take care of Soldiers at the next level (SSG), if the SGT lacks the ability to work through this.
If it is a matter of waiting, the SGT should wait.
If the SGT believes a date will not be provided because of a systemic failure (every entity knows something went wrong, but every entity hasn't taken action necessary for the system to spit out a new school date), the options (not exhaustive) are:
1. Do nothing.
2. Gather copies of all documents and number them as enclosures to a memorandum for record outlining the sequence of events, actions by the SGT, schools NCO, branch, etc., and what the desired outcome is (seat in the next course?). Then, use the NCOSC to reach out for support from the DIV CSM to resolve. I have seen very few issues a DIV CSM is unable to correct.
3. Same documenting action as 2, but contact the IG.
3. Same documenting as 2, but contact the SGTs Member of Congress.
I would suggest 2 and add that the SGT make it clear the desire is to avoid 3&4, then, based on results: 3.
If 3 fails, 4.

1SG (Join to see) they have been trying to do everything that they can. I choose to reach out to whatever resources are at my disposal. Im not in the military anymore which was why I posted on this site to get input from those knowledgeable in this area. I appreciate the suggestions, but the earlier sarcastic comments are unnecessary.

Wait for the new date. You have nothing negative towards you due to the mis-communication.

No, they don't. I just hate that they are being punished for something they were not responsible for.

The SM should call his school manager. He would be able to get him a slot while over the phone as long as everything has been submitted.

His command won't be able to do anything, and the school doesn't control who gets slotted. If the SM doesn't have the phone number for the schools manager he can go on the HRC website and locate it under branch leadership ( I can't verify this at the moment because I'm not able to log onto the HRC site on my phone but if I remember correctly it was the branch leadership)

Hi,
The investigation came back favorable to the SM, and the request has been signed off my a Major General. Unfortunately, now begins the waiting game. If I were you, I think I would like to know who is being held responsible from the losing unit's S3. I'm just curious like that because someone definitely dropped the ball with this Soldier and two things I never ignored was a Soldiers pay problems or career progression. Keep in constant communication and yes, be a pain in the ass if you have to with the S3 to ensure that things don't fall through the cracks again.

Whoah, how is being unaware of ALC due to PCS a valid excuse? The soldier has an email account, ATRRS reservations go to a SM's email, as well as 1SG's email. 1SG has the contact information and could have told the SM, but the SM is a NCO and should not need a 1SG to tell them that stuff. But it's the SM's fault for not checking their mail.mil and realizing "Oh I'm slotted for school". That's a major issue we see these days, SMs don't ever check their mail.mil and miss out on all kinds of stuff, schools, orders, messages, career opportunities. SGT whomever needs to take responsibility for his/herself and understand that there are no excuses, especially for a prospective SSG. NCOES is a tier 1 set of schools, even beating out deployments. Perhaps this SGT doesn't deserve to be a SSG yet if they can't simply open their email, or figure out they need to go to a school.
