If I accept an AGR recruiter offer will it be a good way to get into the AGR program for a different duty or will I be stuck as a recruiter?

If you are coming into the AGR program to be a 79R then that's what you are going to be stuck in. We are understrength and switching to your PMOS will be difficult unless you are already AGR and your just detailed for a certain period of time.

if you are coming from a TPU for an AGR Recruiting assignment, you must first of all reup for a minimum of 3 years. Once you accept an AGR Recruiting assignment from a TPU, you are automatically converted as a 79R for the period of which you reenlisted for. Then from this point on you can reup to stay or return to your TPU with a skill's identifier (79R).
The only opportunities you will have as an AGR 79R are, Center Commander or Assistant position, Work at Battalion as an AGR NCOIC (MSG position, which is very competitive, you might not even make it), stabilized in one battalion forever or move to another battalion within the Brigade, and if lucky move out to another brigade.
Food for thought, make the numbers, get the most out of college education, kiss up with your chain (go for guy) and stay out of trouble and then you might become successful in Recruiting.

Thank you all for your responses. I found out some more information on it. It is a detail position, so I'll have a recruiter SQI instead of a PMOS change with the option to change to 79R at the end of tour or to return to my PMOS. I decided to take that offer and now going through the fun process of all the paperwork and what not.

If you think of recruiting as something you'll be "stuck with" don't do it!. I did it for 11 years and along with my prior active service was able to retire in 1992. None of my contemporaries opted for other AFSCs. It's mission priority and needs to be accomplished through a dedicated effort. If you're not focused on the job don't waste the tax dollars keeping you there. There's nothing 9-5 about a recruiting tour.

I have seen both sides. We have had folks gonrecruiter and stay their whole career the ones that really want out make it work. Have a plan, have others in on your plan, like your original unit, and don't lie to your bosses. Get in there, do an amazing job and aim to be in a training position bu the end of your first tour. That is aabout the only way I have seen folks get out of recruiting.

I'm currently an AGR recruiter who is on orders to go back to his PMOS, so it is possible. However, people in the recruiting world talk to me as if I've won the powerball. SFC Turner is correct that you will almost certainly be a permanent AGR recruiter.
