Mississippi is a great place to live. They don't tax your retirement pay, cost of living is low and you can get a lot of house for your money. If your kids are school age Lewisburg MS (North Mississippi close to Memphis TN) is a great place for schools. My nephews and my niece all graduated from there, all with over a 4.0 average and still were not in the top 5% of the graduates. They all went on and one is a loteral Rocket Scientist, one is in Veterinary school (got in on her first application), and the other is in Engineering school now all with full scholarships. My daughter graduated from an acaemy where we live and she currently has her BSN and is working on her Nurse Practioner. Summers are hot (which I like) and only two months of the winter are cold, the rest are mild and comfortable. We have lakes, state parks, and a lot of history (good and bad) to explore. We have the gulf coast on the south end and some hills in the North. I love it here and wouldn't want to live anywhere else. Hope this helps.

Good economy, no state income tax, double property homestead tax exemption for seniors, warm winters.

When considering a state for your family, especially as a veteran, it's crucial to look into what benefits are available. While I can't speak specifically about states, I can suggest a stellar moving company if you're eyeing Montreal. Check out https://discountmoving.ca/ they offer great services for smooth relocations. They might not be tied to a specific state, but having a reliable mover can ease the transition wherever you decide to settle. Make sure to research state-specific veteran benefits like healthcare, education, and job opportunities.
