I have a desire to go into recruiting then RSP as a Drill Sergeant, but I also want to be a team leader. At this point is it one or the other?

Yes you will. In the Regular Army we have key developmental assignments. This is not the case in the Guard. The AGR career path may never line up with a M-day career path. The question is really what you want to do in your career. Would job satisfaction in a weekend position be more beneficial then a full time position? Personally, I think being full time would be more rewarding.

Yes you will miss out on being a team leader. If this is important for you to do see if there is an AGR position for training NCO. You can then volunteer to be a team leader while of course doing your AGR duties. Then when you are satisfied with the time put in you can try switching over to recruiting which will be easier because you are already AGR. I wish you the best of luck with this

Yes. You will miss the team leader spot. As a recruiter you will still be able to be promoted. I say do it and ride that gravy train for as long as possible.
Being a team leader is cool, but if you are looking at an AGR spot, I would assume it pays more than your Civilian Job. Plus, once you are in the AGR pipeline you can hope around jobs and easily do 20 years and retire with full benefits, all while having relatively chill assignments.
With the wars done and no major conflict curreny looming over us, I dont think you will miss much by not being a team leader.
