I submitted my divorce paperwork at the appropriate time to my training room. The training room "lost" my paperwork after I continuously asked if everything was updated. They finally pushed the divorce paperwork up 2 weeks ago and I received a letter of indebtedness and S1 has already taken out the payment owed, but the suspense date is 17 Dec.

S1 doesn't take out payments, DFAS does. The debt you had taken is probably a different debt from some type of over payment. You'll need to submit a pay inquiry to see what happened.

SPC (Join to see) if they sent you a letter of indebtedness, you probably have more debt than that left over. The money can also be refunded if your debt is remitted

SFC (Join to see) thank you Sfc for the straight answers. I have my les printed out and it matches with the DL and will be calling finance. I spoke with my chain first before posting here.

You are unclear. I believe you are saying you divorced and submitted the paperwork for a BAH change. The paperwork was lost and then found. You received a letter of indebtedness from military pay [?] and they took out an overpayment [?]. Once the divorce decree is adjudicated in court, you are no longer married and the military can change your pay effective the date the adjudication. Yes, they can collect the overpayment; however, go to your finance office with the LES and let them explain the letter to you and future payments you will receive until the indebtedness is closed.

Probably something you’d want to seek legal counsel on
