If I just went through MEPS and did the physical, why do I have to do a PHA if I was good enough to get in the military?

I just re-enlisted in the national guard after 7 years and I got orders to MOB & deploy in two weeks but my command say I have to do a PHA before i go.So they say I won’t be going to the MOB station & a Major from my command said the next PHA is not til MAY 19 & I won’t be able to get on active orders til JUNE 22.if I was good enough to get back into the military should I be good enough to deploy?

The PHA is a military requirement for pre and post deployment and has nothing to do with MEPs physicals which are entry exams.

I understand but if I physically able to join the military then why not being able to deploy if I just got back in!

There are a lot of different things that you have to do and it is not up to you to question it. They own you. You took an oath. Now you have to do what they want at any time and any moment.

Soldiers are required to assess their physical and behavioral health before and after deployment. Deployment health assessments are taken in three phases throughout the deployment cycle. Each assessment consists of resilience training, an electronic questionnaire, and an interview with a health care professional.

I didn’t have a problem doing it but if I just had got back in the military then next week needed a pha it just was crazy. I’ll do whatever i need to do but it was just a waste of resource and thank you!1SG (Join to see)

The PHA is the key process for assessment and maintenance of the currency of IMR using DD Form 3024. The PHA is used to:
Identify duty limiting and deployment limiting conditions, fulfill the required annual mental health assessment, monitor and guide military personnel in the area of preventive health screening and education
screen for currency of occupational medical examinations and other health assessments.
