I’ll be in my reenlistment window. Does re-enlisting for reclass trump Time on Station requirement?

You can't reenlist to reclass without meeting the time on station rule. The TOS rule for reclass is one year from your arrival to school date.

Your MOS is Precision Retention anyway, so you have to reclass. There is no guarantee you'll come back to your post, reclass is attended TDY to your next duty station. The better idea is to do a Voluntary Reclass into an Under Strength MOS so that the Army moves you to your wife's location as the follow on assignment. With your plan, you'll probably end up in Korea when you reclass

Thank you for answering this SFC. I am a female and moving with my husband. I thought even though I wouldn’t have been at his base for a year reenlisting would have outweighed the TOS requirement. There is a mos I currently want that’s under strength I am just waiting and waiting for a class date. This decision is just hard because I didn’t know if I wanted to go ahead with my spouse and have to wait another year to reclass (staying stagnant with promotion points being so high plus I have been wanting to reclass anyway) or wait it out here for a class (who knows how long it could take) and hopefully be together after class. His reenlistment window opens soon too.

SPC (Join to see) well, time is against you. Your MOS is being phased out. What is the MOS you're trying to get? I can probably give you a realistic idea if you can get it.

The TOS requirement for reenlistment for duty station is two years, the TOS for training is one year. As a precision retention MOS, especially one being phased out, you're probably not going to be able to reenlist for anything but a new MOS.

Thank you for a realistic idea. Time is against.. I am trying to get 42A (over strength), 68G I heard will be under strength for the next in and our call, and 27D is balanced. I’m not having any luck with a class date.

So since you said re-enlistment requirement is 2 Years TOS. In March when my husband’s window opens up would he not be able to leave for another duty station until he reaches his 2 year mark on his base? (Wanting to know for relocating us together purposes)
