If I signed a contract for Airborne School and a 20k signing bonus, but was dropped from Airborne School, will I see that bonus?

My contract consisted of airborne and a 20k signing bonus. If I was dropped from airborne school, am I still going to see that bonus?

You really need to talk to your S-1 and show them a copy of your contract to know for sure. Some bonuses are awarded by MOS, skill level and SQI for example 91B1P (including the P Identifier for the designated parachutist positions). If your MOS was included on the bonus list only for for designated parachutist slots you may have an issue. It all depends on what the bonus included on your contract was for. You should really consult with your S-1 to know which bonus program was applied and whether you will still qualify.

Good question. I suggest taking a good look at your contract. I think normally bonuses are contingent on completion of AIT, but it's possible your contract requires you to become Airborne to get the bonus. Have you been dropped from Airborne School already?

Bonuses are funny and might take ten lawyers to sort. My son signed up with one due about 15 yrs ago as enlisted. Went to schools meeting all requirements went to jump school and ST qual course had some problems medical type. Dropped sent to line division continued to get installments on bonus. Deployed to irag received CIB came back went to OCS. Upon completing it and receiving Regular Army Commision (shard thing to get) he was told he would not get the remainder of enlistment bonus and never received explanation. However is now a aviator and Major in reserves with about 10–11 years active duty plus reserve time
