Senator Marco Rubio didn't pick up any delegates Yesterday! He is banking on his home state of Florida to Revive his Campaign. However, he is trailing in the Polls there! Why is he still in the Race at this Point? What will be the repercussions of his future political career if he loses his home state?

SPC Andrew Griffin If he loses in Florida, it will negatively impact his aspirations to be Governor of Florida (which is his second choice after President, or, maybe, third, after Vice President). As he has no chance of being the nominee for President, his best bet is to fold his tent and go home.

SPC Andrew Griffin - Hubris, overweening pride, arrogance, self importance, the same thing that has been destroying men since Ancient Greece.

Don't you have to have a bit of arrogance to believe you should be President anyway?

CW3 (Join to see) Very true, however, I think we are all a little (or a lot) arrogant. When I was a LT, I thought I should be a Captain; when I was a Captain, I thought I should be a Major, etc., etc. Now, I think I should be the CEO of my company. Not sure if that is arrogance or simply confidence ... probably a combination of both.

CW3 (Join to see) - I would say a lot of arrogance. If you truly think about it. A presidential candidate is saying that out of all the people in the United States, I am the best choice to lead this nation. Yeah, I would say that takes arrogance. Now if it is a candidate who is drug kicking and screaming into the nomination, then maybe not so much. (of course I have never witnessed that happen)

In the long run it would have a minimal (or no effect at all) on his career. Even if he loses outright, he's a young party favorite and the GOP has a history of rewarding what they see as good behavior.
Marco, and the rest of the remaining establishment candidates primary goal is not to win by a majority, but to leech off as many delegates as they can from Donald Trump. He still has a shot at the nomination in a contested convention or he can leverage his delegates for a VP selection.

MSgt James Mullis Something that is not being considered (I didn't even think about it until reading your comment) is the presumption that a Donald Trump nomination will not permanently damage the Republican Party. At the very least, a Trump nomination will prove that they cannot do business as usual. That means that while I agree that the RNC has a tendency to reward its loyal soldiers, they may not have that option after this election cycle. Which would hurt all of the candidates who have bowed out when asked on the hope of later support.

I'm thinking you didn't hear that he's not running for reelection to the Senate... If he drops out of the Presidential race, he's done for an election cycle.

Oh wow! I didn't hear that! Sounds like he is going for broke then! Ive heard that a Governorship was an option for him!

CW4 Guy Butler being that he has been a largely empty chair in the senate, it is not a real loss to the people of Florida that he is not running for re-election.

At this point he has to go all in in an attempt to keep alive in the race for the GOP nomination. If he loses Florida to Trump it could be all over but the shouting...

It's a calculated risk. Some say it's better if he stayes. And Deny Trump the victory. As well as Kasich in Ohio.

I think it will. That would literally be a NO CONFIDENCE vote for him realistically.

SPC James Dollins as a Floridian who has seen Mr. Rubio be a part time Senator, I can say I would vote No Confidence in Rubio. He has failed his constituents. That is in part why he is lagging in the FL polls.

SPC Andrew Griffin I will start by saying outright that I do not think that Rubio will win Florida. Second he does not have a real, solid path to the nomination. He is too far behind, too late in the game. If he wants a political future, then he should cut his losses now, withdraw, build his support base, and try again in four years. The way it is going now, the Republicans need to be thinking about four years from now. They may well be already doing so. Donald Trump as the front runner is expendable. He is not a part of the party base. He can be run as a token candidate, conceding Hillary's coronation, then hit hard in four years making her a one termer. Of course that would be predicated on the nation not tearing itself apart over the next four years which it may well do. Going back to the original question, if Rubio, stays in, and loses badly, he is finished. He becomes the presidential candidate that cannot even convince the voters in his own state that he deserves the promotion from Senator to President. That stigma will stay with him, ending his political career. Not just President, but it would likely cost him re-election to his senate seat. That would leave him on the outside looking in for the 2020 cycle. On the other hand if he withdraws, throws his support behind the candidate, and bides his time, he could be the candidate in four years. Then he would just have to beat HRC in the general election. Let's wait and see where his pride leads him. Pride is the only thing keeping him in the race. With each primary he falls further behind Cruz and Trump.

I believe that if he bows out now he will not have the backing of his "home" state going forward, but if he comes home and then loses he can work to revive it in due time.
My thoughts were that he is a good VP candidate for John Kasich.

SPC Andrew Griffin - I don't but I can hope. He is the only one from other side that can help to bridge the divide.
