Assuming that the Master's degree is relevant and not in underwater basket weaving, I'd vote for that. SAMC is indeed an accomplishment and a great selling point for promotions, but a Master's degree seems to carry much more weight both in the military and in the civilian sector. Remember, you never see a job posting requiring SAMC membership, but you see plenty that require a Master's degree.

If one had to choose between the Sergeant Audie Murphy Club and a master's degree, which would you pick?

Master's Degree. In the civilian world, a Master's means something. Most civilian employees won't have a clue about the SAMC.

I have 9 college classes left on my masters and I plan on attending the SAMC board in June for my unit. Just have to prioritize. Also I am married, have 3 kids and in a leadership position. If you want it, you will find time!

Special Duty Assignments do help you achieve all that without field time or deployments in the horizon. Great show of leadership and time management.

Master's degree is far more valuable. Everyone on the planet knows what a master's is. No one knows or cares about SAMC.

Aa a SAMC member, I can say from experience that we do way more than anyone sees. This FY alone my chapter has given a $500 scholarship, $500 donation to a cancer foundation, and over $2,000 in donations through Charity Miles. This isn't counting the monthly requirements for charity work. You may chose to do one before the other, but please do them both. Stand far apart from your peers both personaly and professionaly.
